Objectives of the Friends

The Association was formed in West Somerset, England on 23rd August 2007 in order to help develop the school.

No administration costs are taken – all donations go to the school.

Objects are:

  • Raising of funds for helping to develop the infrastructure of the school
  • Raising of funds for the purpose of providing ongoing financial support for basic and specialist equipment
  • Promotion of the work of the school

Funding

Funding is obtained through Patrons, collecting boxes,car boot sales, fundraising events such as concerts or coffee mornings, and one off donations.

Patrons – our patrons donate a regular sum of money each month to the “Friends” and this forms the bulk of our funding – if you wish to become a patron or make a one off donation please click here “donation”.

Lions Clubs

The Minehead & District Lions Club provide local support and the Dar es Salaam Lions in Tanzania who liaise with the school on behalf of the Friends ensure accountability

Ravensbourne School

The Ravensbourne School, located in South London, has kindly donated a digital camera and exchanged letters with the schoolchildren. The link person at the school is Emily Codling.

Minehead Male Voice Choir

Minehead Male Voice Choir support the Friends by providing an annual concert which raises several hundred pounds.

Riverside School

Located in Swindon, Wiltshire. Elizabeth Band is setting up a link between both schools as well as fund raising for a laptop for K/D.

The sum total of this effort is to send £4,000 dollars each July to the K/Dimbani School in order to assist them with their school development programme which is overseen on our behalf by the International Lions in Dar es Salaam. Stephen Fitzgerald, Chairman of the Friends is also a Lion at the Minehead and District Lions Club in Minehead, West Somerset, England.
